Salome 9.7 Universal Linux binary on Ubuntu 21.04

Posted by thiagopl at December 07. 2021

I installed Salome 9.7 Universal Linux binary version on Ubuntu 21.04 (the same version worked on Ubuntu 20.04). When I start Salome by ./salome in Salome folder I get the message bellow and after that nothing happens.
runSalome running on thiago-Inspiron-5557
Searching for a free port for naming service: 2810 - OK
Searching Naming Service  + found in 0.1 seconds
Searching /Kernel/Session in Naming Service  +++++Warning, no type found for resource "localhost", using default value "single_machine"
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ found in 16.5 seconds
Start SALOME, elapsed time :  17.5 seconds
Is it possible to run Salome on Ubuntu 21.04? Unfortunatelly I upgrade to 21.04 but forget the Salome issues...

Hoi Thaigo,

with Mint 20.2 (indeed based on Ubuntu 20.4) I got the same message as you show:

start salome9.7.0
runSalome running on KataTjuta
Searching for a free port for naming service: 2811 - OK
Searching Naming Service  + found in 0.1 seconds
Searching /Kernel/Session in Naming Service  +Warning, no type found for resource "localhost", using default value "single_machine"
++ found in 1.5 seconds
Start SALOME, elapsed time :   1.7 seconds

After that I got the splash screen and the standard Salome 9.7.0.window.
I had some issues during install, eg libGEOM.so libOpenGL.s0.0 and libSMASH libOpenGL.so.0 are missing, but that was reported during install. You didnot have any issues during install?

met vriendelijke groet
Kees

Hi Kees,

I prefer the Universal Linux binary version, even when I had Ununtu 20.04 installed. With the Linux binary version, you just extract the downloaded file and run. I run Salome 9.7 Universal Linux binary version in Ubuntu 20.04 without problems. Usually library problems are solved installing them :)

My problem here is that there is no error messages now.
