Volume Mesh near the surface of a micro scale cylindrical wire.

Posted by h8xu at August 24. 2021
hi Community,

I am new to FEM, and I was having problems with the volume mesh for a cylindrical container with a 25 micro anode wire (12.5 in radius) in the center. I tried to mesh the geometry with a very fine setup (NetGen1D-2D-3D) (which took a while to compute). However, there's still some area around the surface of the anode wire that were not meshed. And the numerical calculation does not seem to fit my analytic calculation near the center of the cylinder (I used ElmerGUI's electrostatic solver to solve for the electric field of such cylinder).

I tried to mesh the thin wire with quad mesh and make a compound mesh or sub mesh, but It did not work.

Can someone please guide me with few pieces of advice?
Much appreciated.

Thank you,
Haiwen
